Last week, I was fortunate to attend the ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco. My goals were to participate in several seminars regarding homeland security, emergency management and disaster preparedness law. Of note, I was able to meet the State of California’s Director of Emergency Management, the Honorable Matthew R. Bettenhausen. He spoke at the ABA’s Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. Best quote: “We have four seasons in California, Earthquake, Fire, Landslide, Riot.”

The State and Local Government Section has an Emergency Management and Homeland Security Committee as well.  Stay tuned for developments in these areas.
